Royal Rumble (2017) was a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event and WWE Network event produced by WWE for the Raw and SmackDown brands. It will took place on January 29, 2017, at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. This was be the 30th event under the Royal Rumble chronology. The event is also the second Royal Rumble to be held in the Alamodome, after 1997, and the fourth to be held in the state of Texas (1989, 1997 and 2007).
During the event Charlotte Flair, Sami Zayn and The Undertaker all became new champions defeating Bayley, AJ Styles and Cesaro. In the main event Bray Wyatt won the Royal Rumble for the first time in his career by last eliminating Chris Jericho who broke the record for longest time in the rumble beating Rey Mysterio's 11 year record by five seconds.
During the Royal Rumble both Rey Mysterio and Kurt Angle made their in ring returns with Mysterio signed to a full-time deal with the company.
