Survivor Series (2016) is an upcoming professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event and WWE Network event produced by WWE for the Raw and SmackDown brands. It will take place on November 20, 2016 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It will be the thirtieth event under the Survivor Series chronology. This will be the first time that Survivor Series will take place in Canada since 1997 where the infamous Montreal Screwjob controversy took place. The event will mark the in-ring return of Goldberg, who has not wrestled for the WWE in over 12 years. The event is the first in the Survivor Series chronology to be four hours in length, a length reserved for WrestleMania and SummerSlam.
Seven matches were contested at the event. The main event marked the in-ring return of Goldberg after twelve years, which saw him defeat Brock Lesnar in a squash match. The four matches on the main card were interpromotional matches, pitting wrestlers from the Raw brand against wrestlers from the SmackDown brand. Three of those matches were traditional Survivor Series elimination matches, which saw Raw's women and tag teams defeating SmackDown's, but SmackDown's men defeating Raw. The Cruiserweight Championship, held by Raw's Gran Metalik was on the line against SmackDown's Zack Sabre Jr., had Sabre, Jr. won the entire cruiserweight division would have transferred to SmackDown Live. A traditional survivor series tag team match took place between The Empire of Pain and the Bullet Club both team were from the Raw brand. The penultimate match saw Cesaro win his first WWE Championship by defeating Shinsuke Nakamura.
With victory in the main event Goldberg became only the third wrestler after James Harrison and John Cena to defeat Brock Lesnar at two pay-per-views. With the result Goldberg became the first person since James Harrison in October 2014 to pin Lesnar.
